Rivers Project

Four years ago, Denise Hallam, Southern Tasmania's Manager of Lifestyle Services established the Community Artlinks Program.

The Beneath the Jetty project formed part of 'The Works Festival' by the City of Glenorchy.

Amongst the work of other community groups, Uniting Aged Care residents unveiled and exhibited their work depicting an underwater scene at Hobart's Derwent Entertainment Centre to over 3,500 visitors.

Beneath the Jetty was a three month project involving over 100 residents from Ningana, Lillian Martin, Strathaven and Strathglen.  Professional artists provided lessons to residents on felting, tye dying and silk painting, which provided residents an opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills. Residents were able to use their skills and art mediums to cleverly create the underwater scene.
