What is ArtLink?
ArtLink is a continuous, project-based program offered at the Uniting Aged Care (Southern Tasmania) residential homes Strathaven and Strathglen at Berriedale, Lillian Martin at Warrane and Ningana at Sorell.
Its aim is to encourage, honour and celebrate the abilities, memories and humour of our older citizens, especially those living in a residential care environment, and to use these projects to link the residents with the wider community.
ArtLink uses a variety of short and long term projects to form a bridge connecting the residents within these homes to their surrounding community. Uniting Aged Care (Southern Tasmania) residential care homes are keen to promote closer ties with individuals and groups within the community in ways that are of mutual interest and benefit to our residents and the community members.
The ArtLink program interprets ‘art’ in the widest possible sense, and includes any creative activity; all traditional craft (both 2 and 3-dimensional) such as knitting, crochet, stitching, woodwork, felting, paper making; all forms of art including drawing, painting, print making, sculpture, fibre and textile work, music, rhythm and singing, movement and dance, storytelling, performance, photography, multi-media.
