AFL Premiership Cup visits Kalkee Murray

  Connie Hutchinson and her son
  Col with the Premiership Cup.

The residents of Kalkee Murray were thrilled by a visit of the Geelong Football Club’s 2011 Premiership Cup last month.

Mr Col Hutchinson who is the historian of the Geelong Football Club and Eric Nicholls, past player 1956-1963 (including the great 1963 Grand Final) brought the cup along.

Col is the son of our Kalkee Murray resident Connie. This is probably why we were lucky enough to receive such a visit.

Col and Eric displayed the Cup to the residents for photo opportunities as well as entertaining us with some historic photos, logos and interesting facts about the club.  A quiz was held which jogged the happy memories of the residents and reminded them of past heroes and achievements.

We are Geelong, of course here in this one team city!!!

However, even our ‘hawk’ in the audience, Hawthorn Football Club supporter, Max, wearing his Hawthorn scarf and badges, was still delighted to see the Cup close up.
