Ila Andrews – 101 and going strong

 Ila Andrews with Michelle Moore,
 Community Case Manager,
 South Tasmania Community Care.

Hobart resident, Ila Andrews, is 101 years old. She clearly plans to live much longer since she describes the weight she has put on since receiving the UAC Meals on Wheels as ‘middle-aged spread’!

She also plans to be part of Hobart High School’s centenary celebrations in two years time. Ila’s tip for a long, healthy life is to take Vitamin E.

Ila has lived all her life in Hobart. Her father Joseph Cresse was a builder who built a lot of the buildings round Hobart.

Ila has had a busy and active life. In her younger days, she and her husband Frank played tennis. They regularly played with the famous Hollywood star Errol Flynn before he left Hobart for the bright lights.

Awards for voluntary work and commitment to the community have been granted to Ila, including Senior Australian of the Year, Pride of Australia Medal and State Volunteer of the Year.
