New social housing units for Tasmania

A  launch for 50 new social housing units across five existing sites throughout Tasmania was held at Strathglen Mews, at Berriedale, on the 9th November.

The new units are incorporated into existing communities in a model that reflects a new attitude toward how Australians are approaching aged care.

The event was launched by the State Minister for Human Services and Community Development Cassy O'Connor, Hon Dick Adams MP, Sharon Donovan and included the placement of a time capsule.

The time capsule contained some information about the site and Uniting Aged Care but most importantly it contained a letter to future generations telling them about the community and what we are hoping to create.

New units have also been built at Cottage Gardens in Mornington, Aldersgate Village in Newnham, Strathdevon in LaTrobe and Glenrowan Village in Georgetown.
