This social group consists of around 15 people who meet at Leighmoor Centre once per week.
Clients are welcome to attend from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm or can attend for a shorter period of time depending on individual circumstances and preferences.
Activities are both cognitive and physical and include chair based exercises, board games, carpet bowls, indoor golf, darts, for instance.
Morning and afternoon tea and a hot lunch is provided to clients.
Cost: $13.00 per day.
Monthly Art Therapy
Assists clients to express themselves through art with a qualified art instructor. Art mediums include: painting, clay modelling, paper mache, print making, sculpture and decoupage.
This group meets on the first Monday of each month from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.
Clients are welcome to attend just this activity or for the whole day.
Cost: $6.00 afternoon session, $13.00 full day
Tuesday Outing Group and Indian/Sri Lankan Monthly Outing Group
The Indian / Sri Lankan group meet on the first Tuesday of every month.
Clients participating in these two programs participate in outings to a range of venues which may include scenic drives, walks along the beach, lunch at a restaurant, just to name a few.
Our clients are welcome to suggest places they would like to visit and to have input into the itinerary and programs that are coordinated.
Clients seeking social activities or clients with a disability are eligible.
Cost: $15.00 per day which includes morning tea, lunch at a restaurant and transport.
Wednesday Carers’ Respite
This is a centre-based planned activity group comprising a range of activities including: tai chi, Womens’ pamper group, Mens’ social group, table games, music therapy, armchair travel, carpet bowls, plus many more.
Clients seeking social activities or those with a disability and people living with mild to moderate dementia are eligible to attend.
Cost: $13.00 per day. ($6.00 Tai Chi only)
Please note: Wednesday clients are welcomed to attend only the Tai Chi session for the day (trained Tai Chi instructor is available for this session).
The Thursday social group is a centre-based program which includes: reminiscing, carpet bowls, devotions, quizzes, Mens’ billiards and a ‘Well for Life’ program. Outings are arranged from time to time and all activities are provided based on the preferences of our clients.
Morning and afternoon tea and a hot lunch is provided.
Eligible clients are those seeking social activities or those with a disability.
