Yernga ILUs (Mt Waverley)

Uniting Aged Care - Yernga Independent Living Units were established by the High Street Road Congregation and is situated at 32 - 42 Larch Crescent, Mount Waverley.

Yernga, meaning 'looking forward', was initiated by the Rev. Bill Crewin who was then Minister of the High Street Road Joint Parish.  It offers independent living units for couples and single people who are able to care for themselves but who choose not to remain in their family home.

Yernga is now part of Strathdon Community and consists of 31 units, including nine two-bedroom units, set in established gardens.

Units at Yernga are similar in design to those at the Strathdon Community independent living units.  Each unit is fitted to an emergency call system.  Strathdon Community pays the initial installation of the call system with the quarterly monitoring fee being the resident's responsibility.

Unit residents have a small garden area for which they are responsible and Uniting Aged Care – Strathdon Community maintains responsibility for all communal areas.

Residents have access to:

  • Activities
  • Community Hall
  • Library
  • Shops
  • Hairdresser
  • Podiatry services
  • Kiah Corner (Uniting Church group)
  • Mingara Day Therapy Centre

** One bedroom units are currently available at Yernga.  For further information, please contact Lee Martin on (03) 9845 3139.
