Kalkee Day Respite - Program Information

Kalkee Day Respite

This Planned Activity Group offers support and social activities to clients living with dementia and support and respite to their carers in a friendly, welcoming, safe and secure environment.

Clients enjoy a delicious morning tea and scrumptious two course lunch.

Cost: $14.00 per day.

 

Kalkee Midweek Sojourn

This is a transit outings group for clients living with dementia.

Each Wednesday, clients are picked up and dropped off at their residence and taken to places of interest. Clients are involved in the choosing places for the group to visit.

Two care staff supervise clients and a picnic lunch is provided.

Cost:  $14.00.

 

A Blokes Day Out

This is a centre-based and transit group for men.

The group meets on Thursdays at Kalkee Day Respite and men are provided with opportunity to socialise and visit places of interest. The program is designed specifically for those living with dementia.

Morning tea and a two course meal is provided.

Cost: $14.00.

 

Well for Life Program

This informative program focuses on healthy living and eating for clients and carers.

It includes food tasting and other activities associated with personal wellbeing. It is a centre-based program, operating three sessions per term.

Cost: $14.00/carers attendance is free.

 

Come on a Journey To

This Planned Activity Group is aimed at bringing clients from various ethnic backgrounds to celebrate cultural days of significance and to learn about other cultural traditions, customs and way of life.

Traditional meals from other cultures are provided for clients.

This program is centre-based and is designed specifically for those living with dementia.

 

Armchair Tai Chi
(healthy mind and body relaxation).

Armchair Tai Chi contributes to our health and wellbeing programs. It offers clients living with dementia an opportunity to participate in low impact exercise.

The program is run by a qualified instructor.

Held each Friday from 1.30 pm - 2.30 pm.

Clients are treated to morning tea and a two course lunch prior to the class.

Cost: $14.00.per day.

 

Intergenerational Program

Our popular intergenerational program is centre-based, specifically designed for those living with dementia.

The program involves visits from students attending local colleges as well as shared programs with Alexander Thomson Kindergarten. It offers a valuable experience to all involved.

 

Music and Dance Program

In this program, clients enjoy a wide variety of music catering to most tastes.  Activities include:

  • movement to music (music therapy and dance)
  • Kalkee Café (morning tea in a relaxed café environment and acoustic entertainer
  • instrument and song (a sing-a-long with percussion instruments)
  • the Kalkee Day Respite is also fortunate to have staff with musical talents and a wide variety of musicians, dance groups and variety acts.

This is a centre-based program specifically designed for those living with dementia.

A morning tea and two-course lunch is provided.

Cost: $14.00.
