Uniting Aged Care is delighted to announce an exciting new development within the organisation. As part of our ongoing commitment to look after the needs of older Victorians, we have begun construction of our first retirement development, Amarco Apartments, located on the former Gwennap aged care site in Kingsville.
However, this development is more than the typical retirement village, common across much of the country. It will be an innovative, Australian-first model offering residents continuing care as they age in place. This model, based on similar developments in America and Europe, aims to keep residents where they want to be most, in their own home, through the provision of Commonwealth funded Community Aged Care Packages (CACP) and Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) packages (subject to qualifying under ACAT guidelines). However, in those cases where the provision of home care is simply not possible, residential high and secure dementia care are available on site, meaning that couples can remain physically close to one another despite any changes in their health or care needs.
