Uniting Aged Care understands the genuine need to help and support those who are caring for an older person in the community.
We provide a range of services to support the needs of carers which may include a combination of the following:
In-Home Respite
Respite is provided by a care worker within the home allowing the carer to have a break. This can incorporate social support or personal care assistance.
Day Respite Programs
A social or activity based program that offers respite in a day centre, club, or aged care facility and aims to promote social well being to older people while offering support & respite to carers.
Overnight Respite
Short stays in residential respite or cottage type facilities to provide carers with an opportunity for a break from their caring role.
Community Access Programs
Small group outings with a care worker visiting community venues, movies, theatres & parks, give older people an enjoyable social experience & offer respite to the carer.
Note: Aged Care Assessment is not required for most Community Respite programs.
Uniting Aged Care Community Respite for Carers programs are funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Ageing, National Respite for Carers program.
